Admission Criteria For Foreign Students

The international Centre of University of Pune assists the international student community in acquiring information about the various courses offered, fees charged, etc. It arranges and looks after the welfare of the students. The University attracts the highest number of foreign students among Indian Universities. The fact that the cost of living and education in Pune is easily manageable adds to the list of reasons for coming to Pune for studies.
Currently over 6000 foreign students from over 62 countries are studying in the Pune University Departments and affiliated colleges.
I.S.C. (International Students Centre ) is the nodal agency that coordinates all the activities related to the admission of foreign students through a single window system which is a unique example in the country. Besides looking after the Admission and eligibility, the centre coordinates with ICCR ( Indian Council for Cultural Research ), Ministry of External Affairs and with different embassies and Consulates for various purposes including Scholarships. It also coordinates with the Ministries of Home and Human Resource Management.

General Admission Procedure

VISA: All the international students should note that proper Student/Research Visa must be endorsed to University of Pune and no other endorsement shall be accepted.

Category A: international students who have passed the qualifying examination from Boards of Higher Education in India and who require fresh “Students VISA” from Indian Missions of their country endorsed to University of Pune.

Category B: International students who have passed the qualifying Examination from outside of India and require fresh “Students VISA” for Admission to various general courses in faculties of Management and Pharmaceutical science.

Category C: Migrated-In respect of students in Category A above, International students shall be normally treated at par with Indian students. International students shall apply to the colleges in which they wish to seek admission and the Principals of the college can grant them Admission as per the procedure laid down in this regard only if they have valid long term students VISA for joining the particular course in the University of Pune. In other words the same rules which are applicable to Indian students who have passed the qualifying Examinations in India will also be applicable to International students in this category. However, within a month from a commencement of the session, the college must send the Eligibility Application of such International students.
The international student belonging to this category must pay the following fees:

Eligibility Fee: 400 INR ( Indian National Rupees )
Entrance Fee: US$500 and
Medical Test Fee: US$50

The fees stated above are applicable to Self Finance Students. As regards the Admission of students falling in Category B above is Centralized and it is the Office of Deputy Registrar, International Centre, which will issue the letter of Admission, provisional as well as firm, as per the procedure and rules laid down in this regard. Fresh International Students are required to pay Entrance Fee of US$500 and Medical Test Fee of US$50 in addition to other fees.

Note: Above Fees are excluding the Admission Fee subject to rules of college.
