Prof. S.A. Kanakraj is a well-known, respected and revered personality in the field of legal education having an experience spread over four decades. His dedication towards quality legal education has been mostly achieved and appreciated by lakhs of students all over India, Bhutan, SriLanka and other Afro-Asian countries. It is undoubtedly true that his past students are practicing law as a profession, judges, or holding high office in the corporate world.

As a law student, Prof. S.A. Kanakraj stood first in order of merit in the Master of Laws examination, 1970-72 from the University of Pune. He is closely associated with several social organizations and was Director of YMCA and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Railways. He is interested in catching them young and was instrumental in starting and developing several primary and secondary schools in Pune and Tamil Nadu.

| He has been directly associated with Padmashree Dr. S.B. Majumdar who is the founder of Symbiosis and he is not only his Guru but also his friend, philosopher and guide. He was the longest serving Principal in Symbiosis Society’s Law College Pune, and through his efforts it has become one of the topmost Law Colleges in India. During his tenure in Symbiosis he has invited mostly all Chief Justices of the Supreme Court and High Courts and he is closely associated with Justice V. R. Krishna Aiyyer and other eminent jurists who were practicing in the Supreme Court and High Courts. He is also closely associated with Advocate Ram Jethmalani who became the Professor Emeritus in Symbiosis and organized several lecture series through him |

| He has contributed to legal research and has organized several seminars and symposia for his students. He is also connected with free legal aid and worked as a member judge in the Lok Nyayalaya and disposed off many cases.
He has held various responsible positions in the University of Pune and he was the Chairman of the University Question Paper Setters and Assessment Committees and also Chairman of various Local Inspection and Selection Committees.
Parents and guardians have great faith in him and students from other states of India and other countries give him the responsibility of not only training the students but also taking care of them in their absence. |

Apart from his academic interests he is also closely connected with sports and has held the post of Chairman as well as President of the Poona City Zonal Sports Committee, which comprises of all city colleges under the auspicious University of Pune, for several years. Now he has taken up the responsibility of Sri Balaji Law College and Balaji College of Arts, Commerce and Science (Junior and Senior College) founded by the educationist and management guru, Prof. Col. A. Balasubramanian. Both these institutes are situated in a vast complex with all modern amenities along with hostel facilities to pursue higher education in a serene and peaceful atmosphere. He is determined to train and impart academics as well as discipline , dedication and determination among the students for their bright future and success in life and at the same time not to forget their responsibility towards their brethren who are in need of their support and to take India to greater heights. |

Students love and respect him not only as a guru but as a kind human being. It will not be an exaggeration to say that with his divine blessings, his students have achieved their heart’s desire and are holding enviable high offices both in profession and in practice. |
